ABOUT
"One life lost is one too many"
for POADD & SA, "One Career Lost is one to many, before it gets a chance to take a life. We need to resolve issues at the lowest level and prior to a career or life issue."
Petty Officers Against Drunk Driving is an organization that is trying to resolve issues at the lowest level. We have all heard this in our career at some point, and most of us understand this to be simply fix an issue (not hide) before the Chief or Officers take action, if not we look dysfunctional because we did not resolve it when we could have.We want to take it to the lowest level with our Shipmates. If we can educate and empower our E-1 through E-5 Sailors, through direct action, we can win the battle at each NOSC. When we say NOSC we are not talking about just the Sailors at the NOSC we are talking about every Sailor and Unit Associated with that NOSC.We have started a National Campaign of "Petty Officers Against Drunk Driving”, however this is not just about Drunk Drivers. We have included Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Suicide Prevention and Drugs. These issues have a common enemy, drugs and/or alcohol. We intend (through CPO 365 and/or FCPOA’s) set up a POADD organization at each NOSC to educate through visual means (posters, Flyers, meetings, speeches), start a Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decision (CSADD a Navy Program) if not already in place at the NOSC, empower subordinates (position within the POADD of each NOSC), Take the Pledge receive a membership card, Phone App (to have everything at their fingertips for education, ride, SAPR issues) etc. If we are unable to go through CPO 365 or the FCPOA, we will take any “Driven” Sailor who understands and wants to take this mission on.
The Navy has already put out instruction after instruction and they have taken the time and money to set up programs, some of which many Shipmates do not know about, and we want to be sure are implemented.
We have begun this Nationwide Push for an organization of Petty Officers to help educate personnel and STOP one of our big issues in the Navy and that is Drunk Driving and Driving Under the Influence. We have always heard 1 lost life is too many, we have also heard we need to resolve issues at the lowest level whenever possible.
Our Motto is”One Career Lost is 1 to many, before it gets a chance to take a life". The Navy, Leadership, Officers and our Chiefs always push this to us and educate us on Drunk Driving. Why can’t we do this at our level of E-4 to E-6 down to E-1?
We want to set this up where those who pledge not to drink and drive will receive a membership card, and we want to be able to fund those who may need a right to get home or be able to get them access to Petty Officers who are willing to drive others home. We are looking to set this up at least at every NOSC; we can’t do this without you!
Our goal is to get a P.O.A.D.D. Organization at every NOSC... This is not just a Reserve issue it is a DOD and all Military issue. You have to start somewhere, why not here! We are currently working to get Petty Officers Involved and have started setting up at several NOSC's. If you are interested in become a part of a group of Petty Officers to aid in keeping our Sailors alive. Please Contact BU1(SCW) Friedlander prtseabee@yahoo.com or thomas.friedlander@navy.mil. We are currently working on an APP that will connect you with other Petty Officers that can aid you to include getting S.A.P.R. reporting info at your fingertips.
POADD & SA Organization Example Set Up
The Above picture shows our initial setup of POADD & SA for the NOSC and Units. You should see how we are involving CPO 365 and the FCPOA's. From our Main Website to our NOSC down to the Individual Unit, we have a POADD representative. POADD & SA is overseen by CPO 365 which should have a presence at every NOSC. All First Class Petty Officers meet during CPO 365 and all should be part of thier Unit FCPOA and each units FCPOA oversees thier Unit POADD&SA.
We prefer for Unit POADD&SA that the E-5 and below are empowered and set up thier officers or how they wish to run with FCPOA Guidance (from Guidance of CPO 365)
